Default Asus G51J HDMI connection to TV issue

Hello I got my laptop today and whenever I tried to plug the HDMI cable into my Sony TV there is no signal no matter what I do, is there a driver that I am missing?

That won't work because it doesn't recognize the TV

It does not need to recognize it all you have to do is switch output. only reason it would not recognize it is if you have a crappy hdmi cable. happen to me once

Are there any particular cords that you would recommend? It recognizes the cord but does not output it on the TV

I get the option for HDMI, or LCD+HDMI and it doesn't show up on the TV, when I have it on the proper channel.

what proper channel? you are not suposed to have it on any channel. the tv has to be set to the proper input. if you have multiple hdmi inputs you need to make sure the tv is set to the input where the laptop is connected

by channel I meant input, I have it set to HDMI 1 and I double check several times, the laptop recognizes the "Sony TV" now, but I stil get no picture or sound, even if I alternate between the HDMI or HDMI + LCD

the only icon that pops up is HDMI or LCD + HDMI, I don't know if I Have to connect it to a projector or extend the display when it recognizes the TV, I've tried seemingly eveything.

I press Fn+F8, and i set HDMI or Portatil+HDMI, and the computer recognized my Samsung 32' Full LCD, but the LCD doesnt recognized signal.

I have no problem using VGA port, but i want HDMI work.

very likely
did not know that version 1 is incompatible but obviously a decent late edition cable is required

Hello... I'm having same issue... When I bought my computer 2 weeks ago I was able to connect it to my TV via HDMI.... now I have tried with different TV's and 2 different cables and my computer does not recognize the TV's... Could that be something related to windows updates (that's the only thing that has changed in my computer) is there a simple test to know if my HDMI port is still working?

try restoring to before the win update. i doubt it would affect it. the simplest way of knowing is to connect it to an hdmi tv. you do need to switch the display by pressing fn + f7

I installed windows again with original drivers and didn't work.

I tried fn+F8. Nothing happens. My TV is not being recognized. Could that be the cable? I was able to connect the first 2 times with 2 different TVs. That's why I don't think its the cable.

it can be the cable. you need hdmi version 2 or later. cheaper cables are known not to work. i would try a better cable

For those experiencing the same issue there might be a quick fix;

Nvidia Users= Right click desktop>Nvidia Control Panel>Setup Multiple Displays and activate screen in question.

ATI Users= Fn + f8 or Windows key + P.... Good luck guys!
