A friend brought me his son's laptop with a replacement video card saying the old video card would "crap out" when they were playing games. I fired up the laptop and the video looked OK to me, but since they purchased the card months ago and just never found the "courage to take out all those screws" I went ahead and installed this new card. The new card matched the old one in all respects other than serial number. After installation, however, as soon as the laptop is powered up, the screen has a coarse green appearance with some vertical lines down the middle as well. Windows boots up, but the screen continues that green appearance. I'm fairly certain I have all the cables plugged back into the MB tight, so I thought I'd post here before opening the laptop again. Especially since I replaced the double stick tape under the KB with some fresh stuff!
Here's what the screen looks like, now: Any suggestions? |

my best guess is there is an issue with the ribbon cable. generally the green screen happens when you go from low definition ribbon and display to a high definition display, but that is not what you did here

Thanks for the reply. The card was the same model, same codes, only the serial number was different. Maybe I pulled the ribbon cable connector slightly loose in re-assembly. I'll have disassemble again, I guess.
