Q: Why should I split my affinities resources!?

A: When you split affinities to separate cores, it allows you to save resources for the more resource intensive programs!

Q: Will this help my games FPS?

A: Yes, in some ways. As far as smoothness and responsiveness, yes! It will allow your games to load faster as well as run smoother with less jitters and lags. (Does not apply to online games. This is dependant on the internet connection speed).

Q: Will this make my computers overall performance faster?

A: Essentially it will allow things to run more smoother depending on the affinity setup you so choose to create.

Q: Will this work on startup programs? Such as; Sound tools, Anti virus, aol, aim, yahoo messenger, msn, etc,..

A: Yes! You would have to be comfortable and familiar with registry modification.

Requirements

1-A dual core or better.

2-knowledge of shortcut switches and formatting.

You will need to use the shortcuts that are created on your Desktop/Taskbar/Start Menu Win 7.

You will have to use the hex decimals provided to accomplish this tweak/mod correctly. As you will need to choose what exact core/cores you would like to use for your target programs.

Hint's & Tips

There are many ways to tweak out your resources. This is the setup that has worked for me best! Moving tools such as; audio tools, aol, aim, yahoo messenger and anti virus or firewalls that hang on the bottom right of the taskbar. These are best moved to the primary core. These essential tools and programs can be located within the registry startup programs. All other intensive programs can be relocated to the last three or second core for dual cores.

Tutorial

This is the script to copy;

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start "Copy Program paths shortcut name here without the .exe" /PriorityHere /affinity X

Now with this script copied. Right click on the target program to tweak and assign cores and paste the copied content to the beginning of the target box. You can paste this into the beginning targets path.

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start "firefox" /high /affinity 1 "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

Be sure to have the path to the program within quotes ("") or else the tweak won't work. Where you see "/high" this is the priority, "affinity 1" will tell the program to run on the first core.

Here is the list of hex decimals to assign cores up to quad:

1=Core 0
2=Core 1
3=Core's 0+1
4=Core 2
5=Core's 0+2
6=cores 1+2
7=cores 0+1+2
8=core 3
9=core's 0+3
10=core's 0+1+2+3
1a=core's 1+3
1b=core's 0+1+3
1c=core's 2+3
1d=core's 0+2+3
1e=core's 1+2+3
1f=core's 0+1+2+3

By Replacing the "X" in front of affinity with one of these hex decimals. You will assign the program of choice to the corresponding core or cores.

Setting priority

These are the list of possible priorities:

/Low

/Below Normal

/Normal

/Above Normal

/High

/Realtime

"/Realtime" NOT RECOMMENDED! All other's are fine.

Registry Startup Programs Locations

These are the locations to all startup program locations;

Click on All Programs, right click on the Startup folder, and click on Open All Users or Explore All Users.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

For 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7:

AND (If added by Group Policy)

For 64-bit Windows 7 only:

Remember, be sure to add Quotation marks to the beginning and end of program path. Here is an example;

 C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start "firefox" /high /affinity 1 >"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"< -prefetch 1 -p

This will tell firefox to start in high priority on core 0. Be aware of extra switches at the end of the program path. DO NOT PLACE QUOTATIONS AFTER SWITCHES. Only place quotations from drive letter to the end of the (XXXX.exe")! BE CAREFUL ON CHANGING CORES FOR SERVICES!
